EBI

The equivalent background illumination (EBI) can be defined for streak tubes and image intensifiers. It specifies an illumination level typically given in µlux that would generate the same number of electrons as electrons that are generated due to the thermal noise. To measure the EBI the black body radiation at 2850K is used and calibrated by using a luxmeter. Therefore the EBI is depending on the absolute dark current but also on the spectral sensitivity of the detector.

Exposure Time
